St. Mark and Action on the Economy

Parishioners are addressing concerns about the economy. Parish-community members volunteered to research and distribute information about resources (financial assistance, food pantries, legal services, foreclosure aid, education services, etc.). Parishioners are also interested in a parish job network and encourage those who know about available jobs to notify the parish for job postings.

St. Mary Magdalene – Feast day: July 22

She is called "the Penitent". St. Mary was given the name 'Magdalen' because, though a Jewish girl, she lived in a Gentile town called Magdale, in northern Galilee, and her culture and manners were those of a Gentile. St. Luke records that she was a notorious sinner, and had seven devils removed from her.

REST IN THE LORD

For several weeks we have listened to readings that have recounted just how arduous the work of prophets and disciples can be. In today’s Gospel, the Lord Jesus listens to the reports of those he had sent out “two by two” to minister to the people.
